Dr Agata Lambrechts Awarded Grant to Study European Universities Initiative

Institute of Communication and Public Policy

Dr Agata Lambrechts, a postdoctoral researcher in the Research Policy and Higher Education Studies Research Group at ICPP, has been awarded a grant from the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) for her research project, "Avoiding Peripheralisation: Swiss and British HEIs Participation in the European Universities Initiative."

This prestigious award will support Dr. Lambrechts and her collaborator, Antonin Charret (a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford and Associate Researcher at USI), in exploring the motivations and challenges faced by Swiss and British universities participating in the European Universities Initiative (EUI). Their research will examine:

  • The factors influencing HEI decisions to join the EUI
  • Alliance selection and collaboration approaches
  • The short- and long-term benefits of participation

This research is expected to provide valuable insights into how these universities navigate the complexities of the EUI to maintain legitimacy and international engagement.

The SRHE Award for Newer Researchers is a competitive grant program that supports early-career researchers in the field of higher education. Dr. Lambrechts' win is a testament to her outstanding research potential.
